According to the Evening Standard, Maddix charged tenants £265 per week compared to the £81 subsidised rent he was paying. He told council officers he had been forced to leave due to racists and homophobic abuse but there was no record of any complaint being made by him.
The celebrity fashion stylist who claims to have worked with Victoria Beckham and edits FGUK magazine, now faces eviction after being found guilty at Ealing Magistrates’ Court. He has been order to pay an unlawful profit order of £1,901 plus £1,750 in costs.
Ross Brown, director of finance at Ealing Council said, ''Council housing is one of the most valuable assets that we have to protect and give shelter to people in the borough that are most in need. There are many families and vulnerable elderly people in temporary accommodation who are waiting for permanent accommodation. For this reason I am glad that this obvious abuse of council services was identified by the council fraud team and that the court has ordered the defendant to pay damages. I thank all the officers for their hard work on this ensuring much resources can continue to be directed to those in need.''
